So everyone’s losing their minds over GPT-5 rumors. Seriously, “AGI-lite” capabilities? What does that even mean? We can’t even get GPT-3 to stop asking people if they’re sure every time someone says anything remotely uncertain. Now we’re expected to believe this new version will be something spectacular? Yeah, right. Maybe it’ll make coffee too. Who knows?
And what’s with this obsession with replacing knowledge workers? Sure, let’s just believe a AI can just waltz in and take over jobs as if humans are all disposable or something. It’s like expecting a hammer to start doing brain surgery. I guess the industry just loves to freak out and pretend it’s the end of the world every time something new comes out. The productivity disruption chant is getting old, trust me. Go on, freak out. But don’t expect me to bite.
Then there’s the “reasoning improvement” and “reduced hallucinations.” You’d think they figured out a cure for the common cold with the way they’re touting these features. Give me a break, it’s an AI, not a sage on a mountain top. It makes mistakes, just like everything else that’s been programmed by humans who probably get more things wrong than right once in a while. But hey, bet someone is writing a buyer’s guide for GPT-5 right now because who cares about reality when you have marketing hype?
Digging deeper into this can be painful. Whatever.
